Celebrating 20 Years of Ultradome
In 2005, Daisy took out the SPASA NSW Most Innovative Product Award with something deceptively simple: a perfectly formed bubble. But Ultradome wasn’t just a new shape, it was a breakthrough in how pool covers perform, age, and endure under the harsh Australian sun.
Twenty years later, Ultradome is still the backbone of every Daisy pool cover. It’s still considered the perfect bubble and what sets Daisy apart from the rest!
What Makes Ultradome™ Different - The Technical Advantage
The secret is in the bubble profile. Unlike traditional covers that stretch material into circular bubbles (creating weak, thin “corner” points) Ultradome’s manufacturing process forms bubbles with consistent wall thickness. Around two-thirds of the total polyethylene (PE) content is concentrated in the bubble layer that rests directly against pool water.
That means:
No weak spots where bubbles meet
Even material distribution for improved strength and longevity
Better resistance to UV, chlorine and other pool chemicals that degrade covers over time.
Testing has repeatedly shown that this bubble profile delivers superior floatation, insulation, abrasion resistance and durability compared to other bubble designs. Download Fact Sheet

Innovation That Doesn’t Stand Still - The Titanium Range
Even with Ultradome’s long-proven performance, Daisy hasn’t stood still. Over the past two decades, we’ve continued to refine our materials and respond to market trends, particularly a demand for darker, more premium, metallic-style colours.
The challenge was delivering these modern aesthetics without compromising the superior heating benefits of a lighter, more translucent cover. That’s exactly how the Titanium Range was born. By engineering a clear top layer over the Ultradome bubble structure, we maintained all the benefits of the lighter colour to maximise the thermal transmission of the suns energy into the water instead of into the pool cover and superior thermal performance while creating a contemporary look that suits today’s pool surrounds.

Longevity Through Material Engineering
It’s not just the shape - it’s what’s inside. Ultradome covers also include UV-absorbers, stabilisers and chemical-resistant additives that slow down degradation caused by sunlight and chlorinated water.
Because the “bottom layer” (the part in contact with water and chemicals) is thick and uniformly formed, eliminating the weak point, the cover resists breakdown long after competing covers would wear out. In fact, in many cases, even lower-grade Ultradome covers outlast “thicker” competitor covers that rely on total material thickness rather than structural integrity.
Ultradome doesn’t just perform on durability. The consistent bubble structure also creates a highly effective insulating air layer across almost the full depth of the bubbles, reducing heat loss from both evaporation and radiation.
Scientific testing confirms that all Daisy’s covers deliver very high thermal resistance ratings- meaning they lock in heat, keep water warm, and significantly extend usable swimming season.
20 Years On, Still Number One!
Twenty years on, Ultradome isn’t “new technology”, it’s a proven advantage for every retailer and installer who wants to stand behind a product built to last.
Ultradome’s reliability means warranty claims are extremely low. However, when something does reduce the life of a cover, Daisy works with you to understand the issue, explain what happened and honour the pro-rata warranty. It’s a level of transparency and support most manufacturers simply don’t offer.
Ultradome is more than a bubble; it’s a legacy of innovation that continues to give Daisy partners an edge in the market. In durability, longevity, and customer satisfaction, nothing comes close.
