The Daisy team was recently asked by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation to design, plan and install a dam cover on Lake Grace Dam.
The Department manages the dam on behalf of the Shire or Lake Grace, and up until recently they had a roof over the dam. Dam roofs were common in the past, but the one on Lake Grace had reached the end of its life so they needed a new solution to help prevent evaporation.
Constructing a new roof over the dam was a very expensive option, and it would be difficult to find someone that could even safely construct one, so they contacted us to ask if we could offer an alternative.
They were pleasantly surprised to find out just how inexpensive our dam covers are. It only took them a short period of time to do their due diligence on our dam covers and then they placed an order with us. The dam is around 30m x 20m in size, so we helped them select a dam cover that was approximately 27m x 27m (or 5 modules) to allow space for it to float - this allows water to flow in without flooding the cover, and ensures debris inflow is uninhibited. We also ensured that all of the fittings and materials needed to secure the cover into place were included in their order.
Shane and Sam performed the installation and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation were very happy with the outcome.
We look forward to working with them on future projects!
