SPASA 2024 Expo Round Up #1

Ben Coyne, Daisy's Strategic Accounts Manager, recently participated in this year's SPASA Pool & Spa Expos and shared a comprehensive overview of his observations.

Attending these expos provides an excellent opportunity to engage directly with consumers, discussing the diverse range of cover and roller solutions tailored to their specific needs. Not only do we aim to educate consumers about our products, but we also strive to foster connections that drive sales for our valued industry partners. Here’s a detailed breakdown of Ben’s firsthand experiences and interactions at each event.

VIC Expo (2-4 Feb)

With an extended show period spanning over 2.5 days, you might expect the show to feel less busy than others. This wasn’t the case this year though, as it was considerably obvious that this expo exceeded last year in terms of both numbers and intent of purchase. The consumer demand meant it felt like everyone who attended made a point to stop at the Daisy stand to have considered conversations about what product best suits their needs. Our Below Ground Box was a hot topic of conversation, however, the Under Bench Roller seemed to be very popular amongst people looking for a practical seating option next to the pool.

WA Expo (17-18 Feb)

As quoted by SPASA: “From 9:30 am, straight out of the gates, people were firing… they showed up en masse. We had a consistent flow of people asking good questions and interested in genuine conversations. They knew what they wanted and were ready to learn as much as possible.”

WA this year was slightly different to the other shows in that as soon as the front doors opened, it was busy from the get-go. There was a surprising amount of existing pool owners looking to upgrade or refurbish their pool area. This allowed us to discuss the varying options we have available for covering people’s pools, even if they’re unusual or odd shapes. From this, we provided detailed information and marketing material that the consumer could then take to their local pool shop with confidence.

NSW Expo (2-3 March)

Further continuing the trend from the previous two shows, the Sydney expo at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse saw numbers increase yet again. The Below Ground Box’s were a particularly hot topic of conversation. A somewhat slower start but a notable change from the other shows was a larger quantity of trade customers that stopped by the Daisy stand. This gave us a great opportunity to discuss product information and also share selling techniques and insights with current customers and new ones. A key takeaway from the day was the surprise from consumers when we discussed the affordability of the Below Ground box.

SA Expo (23-24 March)

Refusing to be knocked off its perch as the #1 expo last year, Adelaide once again led the race this year. Similar to Sydney, the mornings started off a bit slow but once the traffic increased it stayed consistent for almost the whole day. Understanding the need for a pool cover with every pool, there were many consumers commenting that it’s not if they get a pool cover, but what pool cover they will need to best suit their needs. A large number of people had already received quotes featuring a basic cover and roller, so they were excited to learn about the upgradable options available to best maximise their space. The Below Ground Box was a big hit, and the Daisy Drill Drive impressed. Not only did we have a large, consistent volume of people coming to the stand, but we also had a number of other suppliers guiding people to us to receive expert advice.

I could not be more satisfied

I recently purchased a Daisy Pool Cover (400 micron UltraDome) from my pool shop in Shenton Park, and had it installed by your employee, Shane, on 23 Oct 2019.

I am pleased to let you know that I am very satisfied with my new Daisy pool cover, the purchase through my pool shop, and installation by your employee Shane.

As I have an irregular, kidney-shaped pool, it was recommended to me that I include Daisy’s professional pool cover installation service to ensure my cover was fitted correctly and provide trouble-free use. It was excellent advice. For a very reasonable fee, I believe it is a valuable service that you should promote more strongly.

My pool cover was installed by Shane who was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. I could not be more satisfied with Shane’s customer service; he is a credit to the Daisy Pool Cover and Rollers company and brand.
