Installations and How to Clean Your Pool Cover

We’ve been installing some great-looking pool covers recently, but our team have noticed this time of year they also can get a bit of dirt and debris build up. This is why we launched the Daisy Bio Pool Cover Cleaner last year.

The Bio Pool Cover Cleaner will help protect your pool all year round from dreaded bio-film building up on your pool surfaces, including your pool cover. The Bio Pool Cover Cleaner is perfect for pool covers and removes debris, oils, scale and dirt from the cover, and any build-up bio-film (on which algae grows) on your pool’s waterline, equipment or surface.

All you need to do is spray on and instantly scrub the pool cover using Daisy’s Aqua Fingers Pool Cover Cleaner or a pool broom.

Daisy Commercial Caddy Pro – Portable Drive System

Daisy Commercial Caddy Pro is a commercial pool solution that has been designed and built as a robust portable drive to recover, and deploy, single or multiple commercial Thermal Foam or Solar pool covers onto Daisy Commercial Roller systems.

The Caddy Pro is a fully self contained, stand alone Stainless Steel console that suits any commercial pool from a single cover and roller, to multiple pools (e.g. 50m and 25m within the same complex) with multiple cover and roller systems.

The Caddy Pro’s 24v heavy duty internal batteries will usually last for weeks of work however, as there is an inbuilt battery charging system (powered by normal 10A GPO), we advise to simply park and place the Caddy Pro on charge when it is not in use.

With tilt and overload protection, along with normally off switching (the unit will only work when a button is pressed, it will stop when you release the button), this simple yet robust system is designed to make every pool operator’s life easier and reduce OH&S risk that may occur with manual roller usage.

Simple height adjustment allows the operator to fine tune the drive height to suit rollers within the surrounding pool area. The Caddy Pro can be used for all Daisy Commercial rollers with a 20mm square drive on them and can be built to suit the Daisy Commercial Under Bench Rollers’ lower height.

The Caddy Pro drives forward and reverse with the push of a button so once it is on the drive of the roller, simply press the button to recover the pool cover back on to the roller.

The Caddy Pro console handle has been ergonomically designed to make lining up the internal square drive easy. The drive drum slides onto the external square drive of the roller while using the simple height adjustment then, with the press of a button, you are recovering the pool cover in no time at all.

Deploying the pool cover is a breeze!

  1. Attach the haul cord to the cover
  2. Take the Caddy Pro to the opposite end of the pool, approximately in the centre of the cover (2-3 metres away from the pool water edge)
  3. Feed the haul cord under the bottom idler roller then up to the back of the drive drum and hook the haul cord over the cut out finger of the drive drum.
  4. Then, simply push the button to haul the cover onto the pool. The recover drum simply slides out to the free wheel so you can remove the haul cord ready to deploy the next cover.

New! Updated Castors on FM and LP Rollers

Daisy Pool Covers has recently updated the castors on the FM and LP Mobile Rollers. The castor wheels now use eurothane tyres to help keep the roller on the ground.

All new FM and LP Rollers are being supplied with the new and improved brake castor.

Note: The castor pin sizes are different, if you need to replace new castors (part #379) the pins (part #380) need to be changed as well.

Recent Pool Cover & Roller Installations: Before & After Photos

We often showcase photos of our installations when they are finished but it is always great to see what the pool cover or pool area was like beforehand to see how much difference a new Daisy Pool Cover or Roller can make.

This pool in Eaglevale had roller burn, leaves and debris everywhere before the new cover was delivered and installed. Check out the difference it made with a new 525 Solar Cover. Remember, a great pool cover cleaner like Aquafingers will help remove debris and dirt from your pool cover, helping it last longer.

Pool Covers & Leaves

Solar pool covers help keep the pool clean, but they wont keep all the leaves and dirt (they definitely help though).

So if there’s a sprinkling of leaves on your cover, how do you clean the leaves off when you want to roller it up?

Well, there are a few ways to do this and the best way for each pool shape and location may vary, so here are some options:
If the pool cover is dry
• Use a blower to move all the leaves off
If the pool cover is wet
• Use the pool broom or your cover cleaner to sweep the leaves into one area then remove off the cover with a bucket
Alternative
• Roll up the cover and the leaves will roll forward, collecting more and more in a line as they go. When you get to the end, pick up the last few metres and flick all the leaves behind the roller (easier with two people, one on each side).
Or, like Derek does, just keep rolling the cover off and let all the leaves drop into the water. Then, pick up the pool scoop and simply scoop the line at the end of the pool (you will get most of them this way).
Back before water restrictions, an option was to turn on your filter then use a hose to push it all to the skimmer box. This is not a recommended option any more.

The Effect of Swimming Pool Temperature on Your Workout

Swimming is an excellent sport that provides beneficial cardiovascular exercise with zero impact, as you likely already know. But, did you know that water temperature can affect the quality of your swimming workout?

There is very a good reason that the Olympics require that swimming pools used for sporting events maintain a temperature of 25-28 Celsius. Even if you aren’t an Olympian, the temperature of your swimming pool affects the quality and health of your workout in the water.

Swimming in cold water that is below 25 Degrees can increase the risk of hypothermia. Water at this temperature or below can quickly induce shock due to hypothermia. While tolerance for low water temperatures varies according to each individual swimmer, after a long enough duration, everyone may experience symptoms. The very young and the elderly experience increased risks.

Swimming in warm pool water conveys many health benefits. Even for the casual swimmer, spending time in a warmer pool can increase your metabolism and it increases further as you become more active in the water. Overall performance improves when the pool temperature is within the recommended range. Additionally, warm water can soothe aching muscles and joints that were exerted in other sports. To make the most out of your swimming routine, swim those laps in a well-regulated pool.

The Australian sun can only help your pool stay warm to a certain point. If you enjoy an early morning dip, you may find the water too frigid. A pool cover helps to maintain the optimal pool temperature at all times. When you are ready to take the plunge, you can get the most out of your swim.

Daisy Pool Covers has developed their premium range of Series 525 UltraDome+ pool covers that provide maximum heat retention and durability. Protecting your pool in this way will help you get the best quality and most comfortable use out of it. The more you and your loved ones enjoy spending time in comfort in the pool, the more frequently your pool will be used. Why not make the most out of your investment?
