Solar pool covers help keep the pool clean, but they wont keep all the leaves and dirt (they definitely help though).
So if there’s a sprinkling of leaves on your cover, how do you clean the leaves off when you want to roller it up?
Well, there are a few ways to do this and the best way for each pool shape and location may vary, so here are some options:
If the pool cover is dry
• Use a blower to move all the leaves off
If the pool cover is wet
• Use the pool broom or your cover cleaner to sweep the leaves into one area then remove off the cover with a bucket
• Roll up the cover and the leaves will roll forward, collecting more and more in a line as they go. When you get to the end, pick up the last few metres and flick all the leaves behind the roller (easier with two people, one on each side).
Or, like Derek does, just keep rolling the cover off and let all the leaves drop into the water. Then, pick up the pool scoop and simply scoop the line at the end of the pool (you will get most of them this way).
Back before water restrictions, an option was to turn on your filter then use a hose to push it all to the skimmer box. This is not a recommended option any more.

There will always be a cheaper product, but when weighed up with the cost over time, what seems like a great, cheap pool cover can actually cost you more than if you purchased a Daisy Pool Cover in the first place.
It literally does pay to go for quality over the shelf price of a pool cover.
See the Daisy Quality page for more information.
Swimming is an excellent sport that provides beneficial cardiovascular exercise with zero impact, as you likely already know. But, did you know that water temperature can affect the quality of your swimming workout?
There is very a good reason that the Olympics require that swimming pools used for sporting events maintain a temperature of 25-28 Celsius. Even if you aren’t an Olympian, the temperature of your swimming pool affects the quality and health of your workout in the water.
Swimming in cold water that is below 25 Degrees can increase the risk of hypothermia. Water at this temperature or below can quickly induce shock due to hypothermia. While tolerance for low water temperatures varies according to each individual swimmer, after a long enough duration, everyone may experience symptoms. The very young and the elderly experience increased risks.
Swimming in warm pool water conveys many health benefits. Even for the casual swimmer, spending time in a warmer pool can increase your metabolism and it increases further as you become more active in the water. Overall performance improves when the pool temperature is within the recommended range. Additionally, warm water can soothe aching muscles and joints that were exerted in other sports. To make the most out of your swimming routine, swim those laps in a well-regulated pool.
The Australian sun can only help your pool stay warm to a certain point. If you enjoy an early morning dip, you may find the water too frigid. A pool cover helps to maintain the optimal pool temperature at all times. When you are ready to take the plunge, you can get the most out of your swim.
Daisy Pool Covers has developed their premium range of Series 525 UltraDome+ pool covers that provide maximum heat retention and durability. Protecting your pool in this way will help you get the best quality and most comfortable use out of it. The more you and your loved ones enjoy spending time in comfort in the pool, the more frequently your pool will be used. Why not make the most out of your investment?

From time to time, in the right location with the right winds, the white over cover protecting the pool cover can be blown around the cover, even making a nuisance of itself regardless of tying the centre cord.
We have been asked a for a strap with clips on it similar to the commercial pool cover straps. We have made a high quality, UV resistant strap with side release clips that are fully adjustable to go around the pool cover and over cover while it is rolled up on the roller. The new part #324 is now available. Straps are sold separately.
The high wind over cover straps are an extension of all the extra services that Daisy does – from extra finishings onto domestic covers to make handling easier and better, to making covers look neater with commercial finishes. Daisy does all the design work with you for domestic, semi-commercial or full commercial solutions.

Daisy is Australia’s largest supplier of commercial pool covers and rollers with over 30 years’ experience in this sector. “We have always brought to the table well researched and tested products. For the commercial sector, it is important that we not only understand the market trends in design and technology but that we translate this to cost efficiency through improved product quality and deliver the service expected” said Managing Director, Derek Prince.
This commercial pool sector is broad reaching capturing Shire, school, hotel, hospital, physiotherapy/rehabilitation, general public pools and more! It has specific needs and to meet this, Brett Cubit has been appointed National Commercial Manager.
Brett will be supported by the existing Daisy team including Area Managers. Shannon Prince will step up to the role of NSW (South) & Victorian Area Manager. The positive is that our retailers have more support available when needed, along with specialist skills.

Over the years, Daisy has covered a lot of pools, refining our processes to make it easier to order, install and use. We’ve also added services, products and finishes providing greater flexibility, and to go the extra mile in quality and service.
Some of the extras services we can provide are:
The special fit for special shapes & sizes – custom covers cut to any size, shape, water line or upturn.
Like a lot of things, it starts with preparation.
- Once we know the pool measurements and type, a 3D point capturing device is used to plot for fibreglass pools or a 2-point measuring system to triangulate a pool for greater accuracy.
- The plan is then emailed for approval
- Once approved, all measurements re-plotted and pre-cut using a robotic pre-cut machine. The cover is now ready.
- Easier installation (even with limited access to the pool)
- Better fit to the pool.
Edge bind with a PVC coloured edges to one, two, three sides or all around.
- Looks more aesthetically pleasing
- Protects any edges that get extra wear
- Stops tearing if there’s a cut e.g. for a hand rail.
Edge bind with a black woven edge.
- Easier to handle
- Looks better
Wind skirt with a black woven edge – with a lead core rope encased to pull the edge of the pool cover just under water.
- Stops the wind lifting the cover (especially for multiple covers on one pool or covers that don’t cover the whole pool)
- Holds the cover in place if there’s an infinity or overflow edge (the wind skirting sits below the waterline with the water flowing through the woven webbing)
We can also:
- Build in pull cords to fold over sections
- Attach over covers
- Add hinge foam for step areas
- Reinforce or sew extra material as wear strips.
- Install floats
- Build in pockets with harnesses and commercial haul cords.
Quality and Service
Daisy uses only the very best Teflon thread to protect against failures. All sewing generally outlasts our pool covers!
